Troika's Arcades at Future Primitives

As part of the Future Primitives programme, a series of curated site-specific works set across Kortrijk, Belgium for the Interieur Biennale, Troika will transform a former stable building in the historical old town of Buda Island. Engaging with the space, 'Arcades' is an installation that inscribes one architectural space within another; an arcade made of the intangibles of light is implanted into the space defined by strong brick walls, a pitched roof and exposed wooden beams. 'Arcades' creates a spatial suspension of disbelief which questions our relationship with the metaphysical in a world increasingly governed by practical, rational and scientific principles.

Troika are pleased to be a part of the upcoming exhibition 'Intersections: Science in Contemporary Art' at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, one of the leading multi-disciplinary research institutions in the world. The exhibition, curated by Cathy Wills, explores the overlapping processes in the fields of art and science, artists with practices engaging dynamically with scientific processes, establishing a new discourse through enquiry and interdiciplinary research.

The exhibition opens on the 22 September 2012, and includes, among others, Ori Gersht, Edward Burtynsky, Mat Colishaw, Spencer Finch, Liliane Lijn, Karen Russo, Tomás Saraceno, Conrad Shawcross, Suzanne Treister, Jorinde Voigt and Jem Finer.

A Celebration of the Act of Forgetting

The Design Museum in collaboration with Swarovski mark the opening of Digital Crystal with a showcase of works by fifteen contemporary artists and designers, and the opening of Hardcoded Memory, a new installation by Troika.

Low-resolution portraits are projected onto the gallery wall, generated by a hardcoded mechanical structure which in the nature of its construction limits the selection of available images.

Hardcoded Memory is a reflection on the moment; a celebration of the act of forgetting in the digital age.
