The 'SMS Guerrilla Projector' is featured as part of the Sunday Adventure Club’s urban hack toolkit at ExperimentaDesign Amsterdam.
The exhibition is a celebration of urban pioneers: citizens who through a personal passion have initiated collective activities in public space. Completely self-organized they claim a space and hack, mod and change it to fulfill new functions – whether it’s guerilla gardening or add-hacking. The projector embodies the ethos of the movement, allowing the ordinary man to 'hack' spaces by projecting his own message on any surface ripe for reclaiming. A response to over-regulated cities providing little room for citizens to play freely, conduct experiments and express their opinions.
Experimentadesign Amsterdam is part of the new design festival Freedesigndom, with venues located between the Dutch cities of Amsterdam and Utrecht. The exhibition runs until 2 November. This year’s theme – Space and Place -– explores the city as a landscape, which has been shaped and will continue to be shaped through human intervention such as design, architecture and engineering.
